One For Me, One For the Kids
I stopped in Barnes and Noble after brunch today to get a new book to read. Of course I couldn't resist the picture books in the kids section and ended up with this book, Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus. It is hilarious and I can't wait to read it to my Kindergarteners and first graders. While taking this photo I actually settled on the book that I am holding for myself, Through the Children's Gate: A Home In New York. I'd been browsing around for an hour or more and seen lots of book that I have wanted to read or that look newly interesting, but none that I was ready to commit to today. Then I found this one and didn't want to put it down.

I love the book "Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus". I am going to have to check out the other book you mention. I enjoyed my visit here.

I love all the books by Mo Willems - he has several Pigeon books, as well as two Knuffle Bunny books. My first graders LOVE him and were excited when knuffle bunny "visited" their classes (scholastic sells the doll). They wrote letters to the pigeon and knuffle bunny. Mo Willems was the "author study" we did (we do TC at my school). We used those books to teach punctuation, bold/italics, speech bubbles, etc. (why a kid gets a lesson on using speech bubbles but not grammar is one of the mysteries of TC)
I love Knuffle Bunny too!
We too do TC and use Mo Willems as our author study in kindergarten and first grade! I love that some of his books say "by your pal Mo Willems" on the cover.
And my kids too are all about the speech bubbles, but not so much all about the grammar...
Check out Mo Willems' site - http://www.mowillems.com for great ideas on how to use the books in the classroom and reading guides.
I teach a whole lesson with Knuffle Bunny. The kids write about their favorite "knuffle bunnies" just like Mo does after I read the story to them. I have pictures of my kids' blankets and my pillow which of course are the knuffle bunnies of 'our lives!' The kids bring their knuffle bunnies to school. I take pictures of the kids with their special items. Thanks for triggering this memory! www.debrennersmith.com
Very cute idea! I might have to try that. If you post more details on your website, let me know.
